Star Style…Rhianna T

Combine a Rhianna t-shirt with a cute denim mini, leopard and leather jacket, red clutch, and black platforms and you’ve got a hit. Rhianna is another songstress whose style is killer. I was happy I found this t, and I plan on replicating this outfit in the near future. Thanks to Polyvore, I was able to put this look together. Now it’s time to take it from the screen and actually onto me. I’m eager to see how it will turn out. Anyway, enjoy your Tuesday.

Get The Look…Rita Ora

Today’s t-shirt look is inspired by Rita Ora. I love her style. This is definitely a laid back look that I would sport on a casual day. Take a basic black t-shirt with black jeans and sneakers, and add some cool aviator shades for a laid back rocker ensemble. Now the shirt that I have chosen is not the actual t-shirt that Rita is wearing, but one that fits the bill. If you do want to know more about the artist/photographer responsible for the t, then check out Mari Sarai’s blog. Here’s a warning that the contents may not be acceptable to everyone, so if you’re under eighteen, ask your parents first :-).

Take Flight

I’ve started to realize that I actually like bird prints; not all, but quite a bit. I’m more drawn to prints that capture the beauty of jewel tones, you know, prints that are a bit more lively rather than very woodsy & natural.

Over the past year or so, I’ve noticed how I’m really interested in vintage prints which display birds as well. Not only have I taken a fascination to these creatures of flight, I’ve also been intrigued by their unique cages. So, I was especially delighted when I saw the hat below.

Water smart way to get to work…

I haven’t posted in a while because I’ve been so busy and I just couldn’t wrap my mind around anything that I really felt necessary to write about. That is until today; this morning to be even more specific. Oh what a delightful sight did mine eyes have the pleasure of seeing. I can honestly say that my drive to work has just gotten ten times better. Now I truly have something to look forward to as I prepare to take on the day and all that comes with it.

Ding, Ding, Ding…

And the match is on! In the right corner, we have our underdog weighing in at 169.4 lbs. In the left corner, we have our contender, slight obesity. Our two opponents have fought in the past with wins on both sides, but this hopefully will be the fight to end all fights.

I woke up this morning and decided to do my weigh in. It’s time to step it up a notch. It’s time to face what has taunted me for the longest; my actual weight. Although I carry it well, I know that I am still too heavy for my 4 ft. 11 in. frame. I’m naturally curvy, so I know that I’ll never look like a stick figure; but I also know that the amount of weight that I’m carrying around daily can have some serious ramifications. I’m not sure how long this match will last, but I am certain that it will be the last. The ups and downs of weight loss can be very draining and dangerous. My risk of developing diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, or even heart disease has greatly increased now. Not to mention, the extra weight plays such a key role in affecting my self-image. I heard on the radio that a study was done which claims four out of five black women are over weight or obese. Isn’t that ridiculous? To make matters worse; I have to admit that I’m one of the four. It’s time that I do my part to win the battle against obesity.

Some people may talk about the stars that have lost weight and say it’s too much or that they look totally different with the weight off. But think about it; when you’re used to seeing someone at a heavy weight, of course they’ll look a little different. When I tell my family and friends how much weight I’d like to lose, they say that it will be too much and that I’ll be too skinny. But, I know what my ideal weight should be. I say, as long as you’re losing the weight in a healthy way; stick to it. I posted pictures in the past of Jill Scott, Jennifer Hudson, and Raven Symone to show their weight loss and how inspiring it is. Here are some more, because there’s nothing wrong with finding inspiration where ever it may lie. If you have before and after pics that you would like to share along with your weight loss triumph, feel free to send them to me. I welcome hearing from anyone who feels that their contribution can serve as an inspiration to others.
