My Style Resolution

I’m sure there are a lot of New Year’s resolutions out there. I’m sure many people have chosen to lose weight or kick a bad habit. Maybe it’s to work less and spend more time with your family. Hey, I don’t knock it because I have some changes I’d like to make myself. But, on a light-hearted note, I’ve decided to make some resolutions to my personal style as well. I’m not too big on trends because trends come and go. I’m not saying there is anything wrong with adding a few trends to your wardrobe (because I do occasionally), but I’m more interested in a look that sticks around for the long haul. That’s where personal style comes in. My style? It may be hard to define, but I know it when I see it. I guess you could say there’s a lot of downtown edge with a little uptown sophistication. As long as I feel comfortable and relaxed, then it’s all good. At one time I only wore sneakers and jeans because that was very comfortable for me. But now, as my style has evolved, I can say that the tomboy in me is trying to embrace her inner vixen. So that leads me to my first resolution:

Paris is…

a place that I one day hope to visit, and like the collage says, “Always a good idea.” Today I selected a t-shirt that is well within my price range, so I will be adding it to my wardrobe. Some of the other pieces, not so much (maybe one day). But, if my budget could afford such niceties, then I would definitely pair this Eiffel Tower tee with the accompanying items. What girl doesn’t want a Chanel purse or a leather Balmain skirt. Anyway, this was just another expression of my personal style, all thanks to Polyvore. I hope you enjoy my creation.

Let’s make up…

My apologies for being out of the loop for these past few weeks. Being under the weather can be such a bother. To top it off, my computer refuses to cooperate. Am I the only one who realizes how dependent we are on technology now? What would I do without my computer and my phone? I shudder at the thought. I never thought I would get to that point, but alas, that seems to be the case these days. I find that I’m reluctant to throw myself into this technologically advanced world filled with more apps and social networking platforms than I could possibly keep up with. I must say that I enjoy the antiquities of life. So to be frank, technology is dragging me into the here and now, kicking and SCREAMING. Too over the top? 🙂 Anyway, I’m back…but taking it slow for the rest of the month and going into the New Year. I want to say thanks to everyone who reads, likes, and comments on this little blog of mine. It’s truly appreciated. Here is some make-up inspiration for today, and of course it’s been created on Polyvore. Enjoy!

When you think about your style…

When you think about your style, what comes to mind? Do you possess a clean-cut, classic look that exudes confidence and sophistication? Maybe you’re more of a prepster that loves a buttoned down shirt, cardigan and loafers. Khaki and cotton may be the main staple of your closet. Or, you could be a rebel that loves to make a statement of individuality through bold colors and even bolder fabrics and textures. It could be that your style emanates a sex appeal that lingers like the sweet scent of perfume traveling with the breeze.
As I had a discussion with one of my girls this morning, we ended up talking about our personal style and the portrayal of who we are visually to others and to ourselves. When I thought about a designer that reflects my friend’s style, Chanel immediately came to mind. Coincidentally, the same designer popped into her head. As we sat there pondering a designer that meshed with my look, I kept thinking of Betsey Johnson; however, I couldn’t see myself being THAT bold in my garb. I tend to see myself as more laid back in my gear opting for ideal comfort. However, Betsy kept flashing across the dashboard of my mind. And as soon as the words Betsey Johnson escaped my mouth, simultaneously, they bolted from hers as well. Upon further thought (since we had nothing better to converse about), we settled on the style of L.A.M.B. Gwen Stephanie has a way of combining the rebel, rocker chic with a cool, laid back, round-the-way girl look. So there it is. There is my style in a nutshell; bold with a little extra comfort. So, again I ask, what do you think about when your style comes to mind?
