My Style Resolution

I’m sure there are a lot of New Year’s resolutions out there. I’m sure many people have chosen to lose weight or kick a bad habit. Maybe it’s to work less and spend more time with your family. Hey, I don’t knock it because I have some changes I’d like to make myself. But, on a light-hearted note, I’ve decided to make some resolutions to my personal style as well. I’m not too big on trends because trends come and go. I’m not saying there is anything wrong with adding a few trends to your wardrobe (because I do occasionally), but I’m more interested in a look that sticks around for the long haul. That’s where personal style comes in. My style? It may be hard to define, but I know it when I see it. I guess you could say there’s a lot of downtown edge with a little uptown sophistication. As long as I feel comfortable and relaxed, then it’s all good. At one time I only wore sneakers and jeans because that was very comfortable for me. But now, as my style has evolved, I can say that the tomboy in me is trying to embrace her inner vixen. So that leads me to my first resolution:

Have you heard about Sevenly?

Sevenly_wells in India

Well it’s a new year and there are definitely new things in store. I love the fact that I am able to blog. Blogging really serves as an outlet for me to express my voice as a writer, as well as to showcase my creativity through personal style and interest. Whew, that was a mouthful. Anyway, one of the things that I am very passionate about is being able to help others. I truly feel that one of our greatest responsibilities as humans is to help one another. That is why I decided to do something on a monthly basis that would hopefully inspire readers of my blog to lend a helping hand to others that are in need.

So every month I will showcase a company or organization that is doing something to help those who are less fortunate. Let me be upfront in saying that in no way am I being paid to do this, I just feel that it is another way for me to give back and to use the gifts given to me to help others who are in need. That leads me to the first company of the year; Sevenly. Have you heard of them? Until recently, I had not. But now I’m glad I have.

T-shirt and my lipstick…

Okay, it’s another Tuesday! Whoo hoo! That means I get to share my love of tees with anyone who cares to listen, or in this case read. I found these cute little numbers on Polyvore. I must say, some of them are out of my price range (for now). It won’t always be that way though. Brighter days are yet to come. For me, on a casual day; even a t-shirt and the right shade of lipstick can make all the difference while I still rep my personal style. How about you? What would you pair with your tee to complete the look? Keep in mind that pants are a given 🙂 For you it might be a hat, bag, or sneaks even. Either way, keep rockin those tees with style.

Bacon. (cutting up t-shirts)

So today is another Tee’d off Tuesday where I feature a t-shirt idea. Well, due to a lot of unforeseen changes going on in my life along with the change in weather; I have not been able to take photos. But I came across this wonderful post from a fellow blogger who gives a great how-to on making men’s t-shirts work for women. Like her, I love the graphics that men’s shirts offer, but I dislike the way the silhouette looks on my body. So following her steps gives me the graphics that I love with a fit that flatters. I will definitely showcase my t-shirt next week after applying her steps. Hope you enjoy!

Peplum… trend of the season

I’m really loving the whole peplum trend that’s going on. It can be so flattering to your figure when worn correctly. Since I’m not taking any photos this week due to a very hectic schedule and unexpected events, I decided to create a set in Polyvore again. I really like this site. I get to create a fantasy wardrobe that hopefully will become more of a reality at some point. So, here is my take on this seasons trend.
